What is a Lip Lift? 

The goal of a lip lift is to correct the elongation of the upper lip that occurs aging. This powerful treatment is an alternative to repeat injections of the lips with dermal fillers. Lip lift surgery is subtle yet can result in a rejuvenated appearance. The ideal candidate is one who wants to enhance the shape and volume of an elongated upper lip. This procedure decreases the space between the nose and the upper lip which is known as the philtrum. As we age, the upper lip elongates and the length of the philtrum increases as well. The end result and goal is to show more of the red upper lip by decreasing the space of the philtrum.

Lip Lift Procedure
The most common lip lift technique is known as the Bullhorn lip lift based on the design of the incision. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The amount of skin excised varies per patient and the anatomy of each patient. The resulting scar is hidden in the natural crease under the base of the nose. The procedure generally takes about one hour to perform.
