Rhytidectomy

Over time, gravity and sun exposure take their toll on the face and neck. Deep creases that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth appear, the jawline slackens, and the neck develops loose folds and fat deposits. Rhytidectomy (facelift) and necklift counteract these signs of aging by tightening muscle, removing fat, and trimming excess skin.

What Concerns Can A Facelift and Necklift Improve?

Rhytidectomy improves the look of the lower and middle areas of the face, and the neck. It is most effective for correcting the following:

  • Mid-face sagging
  • Deep creases under the eyes
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Jowls
  • Sagging fat
  • Loose skin and fat under the chin and jaw

Facelift Candidates

The best candidates for rhytidectomy want to correct one or more of the signs of aging indicated above, have some facial sagging, are generally healthy and do not smoke.

How are a Facelift and Necklift performed?

Facelift and necklift are performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. There are many techniques described for these procedures and the proper selection of technique is determines during your pre-operative consultations. Dr. Ferzli is well trained in all techniques of facelifts but most commonly performs a "deep plane" facelift and necklift.

What is recovery after Facelift and Necklift?

In general, recovery takes about 2-3 weeks but varies per patients. Bruising and swelling are common after these procedures. A compressive face and neck dressing is worn for the first 1-2 weeks following surgery. Most sutures are removed within the first week of surgery. Heavy lifting and exercise should be avoided for 2 weeks following surgery.
